  using maximum ram in AE

  how can I maximize the Ram After Effects is using on my computer?
  It is an iMac OS 10.5 with 4GB ram, but when I start AE (CS4) I see that 3GB is available.

  I was looking in other forums and one mentioned that 3GB is the maximum possible for AE?
