  My AE 6.5 won’t load on laptop

  I’ve used AE 6.5 for years on my desktop and recently loaded it on my Acer desktop replacement laptop which also runs on XP and has loads of room and capacity for this program. However, when I click on the shortcut or exe to run the program, it starts to go through the series of credits that it runs through before laoding and then just suddenly disappears and never loads. Never actually gets past that credit sequence.

  I tried running it from my shortcut and running it from the exe file, both to no avail. I uninstalled and reinstalled from the disk. Same thing–runs through the names/credits and then just disappears without a trace. I’m a bit desperate. If anyone can help me figure out what the issue is and how to fix it, I’d be super grateful. I know nothing’s wrong with the disk/copy because I’ve loaded from it to my desktop and used it just fine for a long time.
