  why 2 images – diff quality?

  I have 2 videos that I’m adding to a DVD for a DVDA burn.

  at the end of each, I include the exact same logo, same crop (copy/pasted from one project to another), no effect on either event or track.

  I render both videos with the exact same mpg template.
  I bring them in DVDA and burn the DVD.

  One video’s logo has some jagged (not smooth) edges while the other looks good.

  How can this be?

  Jagged implies either interlace and/or low resolution to start with, compared to your preferred result.

  But as you haven’t supplied samples nor full workflow method I’m only guessing.

  That’s the mystery of it, same file, same settings, once on the DVD, diff result.

  The reason I can’t provide much info is that it occurs on the DVD. (burning CBR 6000)

  I guess I could get a screen grab somehow. or… just live with it.

  I thought I’d ask in case it ran a bell with someone who has had this issue.

  I made a lot of coasters today.

  The one that has some jagged edges, was it a lower resolution logo
  than the other?

  Hi Steve,

  As mentioned, it’s the same logo, same image file. I even cut/pasted the image event from one project to the next.

  I also checked/compared the properties in Vegas, on both. They’re the same.
  Very strange, I can’t make sense of it.

  The poor image doesn’t have extremely jagged edges, but enough that it makes the logo look poor. The other is fine.

  So I humbly return to report what I have discovered.

  One of the mpg had been rendered with the “video rendering quality” setting of the template (last tab) to “use project setting” while the other had been rendered using “Best” (As per Mike’s advice in a previous post)

  I had forgotten to set it to BEST, as it wasn’t set this way in my template by default. Let me assure you… it now is 🙂

  I hope this tidbit helps others.

  Moral of the story… that last tab setting in the render template is very important

  ok, glad you found the anomaly.
  The only drawback with the rendering quality set at BEST,
  is that it takes a whole lot longer to render.

  You sure are correct Steve!
  Having seen the outcome though, I wonder why I shouldn’t always select BEST.
