I want to create .veg files as parts of a larger project, stringing the nested timelines together in the end. Is there some way I can set up a project media bin that would have all the files used on the different .veg project?

As always thanks so much to you guys…Johnny In Orlando

Sounds like a job for Media Manager rather than Project Mefia “Bin”?

If you have other veg files why not just nest them into a master file and let the media stay in the respective project files? Unless, of course, you are re-editing the footage, that should be easier. Just drop all of the projects into a main project and treat them like any other media.

Sure, however I interpreted that Mr Orlando wanted to have ALL the Nested Veg’s Media collected in ONE place, a BIN, for some Global purpose. I’ve used this myself enabling me to pick-apart a Veg to decide on wanting to USE other bits of Veg1 and Veg2 to mix into a NEW Veg3.

[Graham Bernard] “I’ve used this myself enabling me to pick-apart a Veg to decide on wanting to USE other bits of Veg1 and Veg2 to mix into a NEW Veg3.”

Yea, that’s why I qualified my suggestion with “…unless, of course, you are re-editing the footage“. 😉

If the media for each project is in a separate file structure (which is what I do… I have a folder for each new project with folders for my media under that) you could use the Load from Filesystem function of VASST MediaTool to load the current bins from the media in the other project folders.

This will create a media bin for each subfolder and place all of the media that it finds in that folder into the bin of the same name. So, for example, if you have folder names like, ‘video’, ‘images’, ‘music’, etc. you will get bins of the same name with the media in them. BTW, This is a quick way to start up a project once you’ve collected all of your media in one place.
