    Hello,
    I try to use Intels Quick Sync function when rendering a finished project to a Sony AVC file in Sony Vegas Pro 12.
    I can render with Quick Sync.
    No Error message, but rendering speed with the internal GPU is not faster then CPU or my R9 270x GPU.

    I find the information on the internet quiet confusing and misleading.
    What I have tried:
    1.Downloading Intel GPU Driver for the 4000 series: vers.: 15338
    2.Downloading Intel Media SDK
    3.Connected my second monitor to my Onboard Graphics i3770k DVI port
    4.Setting it as my main display
    5.Selecting Intel HD Graphics in Sony Vegas as Renderer
    6.Selecting the second monitor as preview device
    7.Rendering the video with SONY AVC and selecting Intel Quick Sync (speed or quality makes no difference)

    Questions:
    1.What do I really need to enable Intel Quick Sync in Sony Vegas Pro 12?
    2.I have used some none-GPU-effects on some tracks. Does this have to do with my problems?

    Please clear my confusions about selecting a third monitor with no actual monitor connected to it.

    Note: I want to use Sony Vegas Pro 12, not Edius or other software, I don´t care about transcoding, just encoding from Vegas.

    I hope this is enough information on my problem. Please feel free to ask me, if you have an idea for the solution.

    I really checked many websites for hours, but can´t get it working really satisfying.

    Julian this is tough. It’s tough for me to get my brain around, but that’s never stopped me.

    OK, there is at least one plug I know of that is card specific for GPU acceleration. That’s just one in a series of mismatches that I have to mentally attempt to deconstruct the issues you’re having. You’ve asked if having non-GPU render acceleration plugs would affect your plight? I’d rather you turned this around and list here what plugs you ARE using that are GPU-acceleration available.

    However, and before that, I’d ask you to start over and build your workflow, step by step until you become aware if your Vegas-Choke point. I say this ‘cos one if the many variables you’ve got bin there is the option to use 2nd Preview Monitor. Try turning that OFF, as well as the GPU acceleration; for the moment and for testing do not use any GPU Plugs and start rebuilding this Test.Veg bit by bit until you CAN choke Vegas.

    OK, that’s my “simple” approach. It’s not clever nor specific to your situ, but using my approach and hopefully with others building on our discussion here you’re at least get to know/realise/understand the potential limitations of the rig and what workflow you can at least expect.

    Another “trap” working with QS and 2nd Monitor, is that I’ve just now read information requiring a Vegas User to uninstall graphic drivers; reinstall in separate sessions and THEN get busy with the CMOS settings to get/allow the PC to be able to coordinate what appears to be a similar workflow that you’re trying to achieve.

    What can I say? This is not straightforward in its explanation. But like all IT the solution, once understood, could be!

    Ps, I have a separate nVidia card that deals with ACEL and 2nd monitor. My OB Intel is left to deal with just CPU rendering. You may have to bite the bullet?

    Hi again,
    your idea is basically, building everything from the bottom up and test each individual step: Install the internal GPU driver->check if it really works…and so on. Am I understanding this right?

    I just rendered my wanted project to wmv, which seems to be the fastest format for me with good quality and youtube combability. The Video is 5 minutes long and rendered in 3 hours. Not a practical workflow if you ask me. WMV is NOT is not using the GPU, I know this, correct me if I am wrong. Atleast there is no option with wmv to use GPU.

    What I did afterwards is enabling IGPU in the BIOS/UEFI and installing Virtu MVP 2.0 to use my internal and external GPU at the same time. I don´t really get any performance boost from that nor does it seem to really enable Quick Sync. What I do notice is a 10%-20% increase in fps when I am gaming (Crysis 3 etc.). So the link does seem to work.

    When I want to start Vegas when Virtu MVP is on, it won´t start and stops at “external surveillance” (translated from german). When I start Virtu MVP after I started Vegas, there is no problem.

    What I can do next is load another program with what quick sync really should work. If it does there, then it´s a Vegas ressource problem, my ram is not even half full: 6/16 GB and my CPU is also sleeping at 40% workforce.

    PROBLEM SOLVED!

    Wuhuu Quick Sync was working all the time, no problems with that whatsoever.
    The Problem was simple to solve and had nothing to do with hardware configuration.
    I had all my tracks over the other, but did not delete the videos below the one that is actually seen.

    Vegas seems to take EVERY track and puts it into the render pipeline even if cannot be seen, because there is another video on top. I tought Vegas works like other Video editing software and just takes the first video and forgets about the others if the first on is on 100% Opacity.
    I should have thought about that alot earlier. After I found this out I just cut away all video below the first one and BAM it renders pretty fast. I had left the tracks beneath because I wanted to change some cuts afterwards, now that I am confidend with my cut, there is no reason to let them stay there. It´s just another type of workflow and you have to do this by hand.

    But I am still a bit confused, what steps you actually need to take, if you want to enable Quick Sync. I really did too much, but I am not shure what I can deinstall and what not. So still: If anyone could put a bit of light to it, that would be very nice.

    I hope this still helps other people that also do not think about this.

    Hi there. I have this problem too with intel quick sync in sony vegas. i got all the time this eror when i try to use intel quick sync: Intel quick sync video is not available. So, i used my main monitor on my onboard video and the second monitor on my geforce card and i set in vegas on the video setting my onboard card. So, what i did wrong ? please help me and sorry for my english skill.

    Hi there. I have an i7-2600k and as GPU HD6870 , Win8.1Pro , Vegas 12Pro . Perhaps i can help you. On my PC Quicksync operates in Vegas with SonyAVC , but not with any framerates. I found out when vegas rendering Videos in 1080p30, quickync does work with both settings, QS-Quality and QS-speed. But when it rendering 1080p50-Videos the setting with QS-Speed doesn’t work and bring an Error. For this Framerate only works the QS-quality-setting.
    Sorry for my english skill too.
