  • Main Concept watermark on SD footage

    Hello,

    I am working on SD footage 720 x 576 25 fps. Footage shot on a Panasonic NV-GS120, mini DV’s back in 2005.

This is my first attempt at editing in Sony Vegas Pro 10.

I had 50 x 1 hour tapes. The first 25 tapes were imported to my computer as .mpg files then into Sony Vegas. The remaining 25 tapes were imported directly to Sony Vegas as .veg files. Don’t ask me how this happened (sigh).

I have edited the footage down to 2 hours. All good so far.

My problem: The first hour of my edited footage (from the .mpg files) has the MAIN CONCEPT watermark in the top left hand corner.

Is there a way of removing this watermark from the edited footage?

I haven’t done any Video FX yet, will do this after I sort out the watermark issue.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Kind regards, Jane

I’ve never seen a Mainconcept watermark, so I can’t help there, except that the demo versions of Mainconcept have the watermark. Did you install a codec pack and overwrite the licensed the version that came with Vegas?

The veg file is not the media – it is only a pointer to the media and any editing instructions from the timeline. If you right-click on the event on the timeline then on properties, media, you will see where the media is located.

    Hi Steve,

    Thank you for responding.

The first 25 tapes were imported into my old computer 2 years ago and that computer didn’t have Vegas installed at the time. These are the .mpg files. I simply connected the Camcorder to computer and it imported the footage.

When I bought my current computer 18 months ago, I had Vegas installed first and then imported the remaining 25 tapes which are avi files.

I didn’t notice they were different files until I was well into editing.

I’m wondering if there is a plug-in that will delete the MAIN CONCEPT watermark? Hello John Rofrano, are you out there? I need your help!

Also Steve, as you mentioned, I right clicked on the timeline, media, properties and can see where the media is, thank you for that.

    Help!
    Regards, Jane

As I said, the watermark is from using a demo version of the codec. Reinstall Vegas and you should have the licensed version that had no watermark.

    Hi Steve,
    I will re-install vegas today.

I won’t lose any of my edited footage if i re-install? I’m very much a novice and much appreciate your help with this.

“I won’t lose any of my edited footage if i re-install?”

    No.

You actually haven’t edited your footage. In fact Vegas never touches the footage. It’s a non-destructive editor. All of your editing instructions are on the VEG file, which you should backup occasionally.
