Follow up to suggestion to add ram. I have a Core 2 Quad processor. 4 gig ram. XP Pro. Since XP is limited as to the ram it can use, how will adding another 4 gig help with my AE rendering?

If you upgrade the OS to Vista 64, AE will be able (and will need) to use all 8 GB of RAM, if you enable the Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously feature, in Preferences > Memory and multiprocessing.

This feature spawns a separate rendering instance for each core in your computer, provided you have enough RAM to feed them (2 GB per core is the minimum recommended).
