How do you prevent a split on one track from splitting adjacent track
I’m sure this is covered in the documentation, but I can’t find it after extensive searching.
I have a video track that I am splitting into events timed to a music track. The music track is a single event below the video track. The video and audio are entirely independent and not grouped. When I hit “S” to split video to create an new event, the audio event is also split at the same place. All preferences are set at “default”. Vegas Pro 11 64 bit, last release;
I will be most appreciative for a suggestion.

Simply click on (highlight) the event you want to split
and hit S.Steve Rhoden

Hi, thanks for responding. I know how to split an event. My question is how do i keep the split i do on one track from applying the split to a c time collocated event on another track that i want to leave as is.
That is, i want the split to be isolated to one track.

The rules for splitting are as follows…
1) no event selected: all events at the cursor position will be split
2) event selected: IF the event is under the cursor it will be split ALONG with any events in highlighted event’s group (even if they are not highlighted.) If no selected event is under the cursor nothing happens.So what is probably happening with you is you are getting a group split. Ctrl+Shift+U will toggle Ignore Event Grouping and the split will only occur on the highlighted event the way you want.

Didnt you read properly what i instructed?
First select or highlight only the event you want to split!
And as a side note to be sure, make sure Ignore event grouping is
enabled on the toolbar.Steve Rhoden
