Color Shift
I have some unencrypted blueray materials that I am trying to convert. Having some color discrepancies and looking for input on this. I have taken the primary track and converted it 4 times using constant bitrate:
1. BD to WMV with Microsoft Expression Encoder (11k bitrate)
2. BD to MP4 with Microsoft Expression Encoder (40k bitrate)
3. BD to MP4 with Handbrake lossless
4. BD to MP4 with FFMPeg using it’s copy featureCan’t open source BD materials in Vegas directly so no way to compare the source to it. However, if I open all four of those conversions and compare them directly with VLC, they all look virtually identical.
OK that’s good.
However when I open in Vegas, there is a color shift, especially with the WMV version. You can see the tones in the face are different. Video almost has a green hue to it. Below is picture of all four versions side by side output from Vegas:
Again, can’t open the source video in Vegas so no way to know what is the most accurate. Is there some best case steps on how to take materials that source from BD and get them in Vegas without any altering of colors?
As a side note as I’ve posted before, both the WMV and MP4 Microsoft encoded videos play fine as is, but when output in any codec/format from Vegas play jerky. Not my primary concern but still an issue.
Note using Vegas Pro 12 latest update.
Thanks.
