    Hello everyone,

I am looking at taking an existing setup I have and making a new system similar to it but that is mobile.

I currently have Sony Vegas 10 running on custom-built Windows 7 rackmount servers, capturing to MXF via Blackmagic Decklink SDI cards. The audio is being captured 1080i60 with 6 channels of audio.

In order to make this mobile (we will be traveling through Central America in a few weeks) I am looking to purchase laptops that will be able to capture the same video/audio stream to MXF mentioned above. The major issue I am having is finding a laptop and external piece of hardware that will let me capture HD-SDI (preferred) or HDMI and that works well with Vegas. Everyone has told me there are major issues with the BM Ultrastudio via USB 3.0 with laptops, and I am unaware of any other products that can capture this stream directly to Vegas.

Cost isn’t a major issue, but these factors are:
*MUST be able to capture to MXF through Vegas (I have a custom encoder that will only take the MXF’s I capture through Vegas).
*MUST be able to have multiple channels of audio (I looked at a Canopus device but it only captured 2 channels through HDMI).

So I guess my real question is there anyone doing this, and what laptops and capture cards can you recommend. Will my internal HDD need to be SSD on my laptop? All of my servers now have the OS on an SSD, but footage is captured to a 7200RPM HDD. Thanks in advance!
