  • Adding titles tracks/album names to CDs

Posted by Linda O’connell on October 13, 2013 at 2:35 pm

I transfer old cassettes tapes for people.. Not copyright songs..mostly of people talking and telling stories.
I usually put the audio track into Vegas.. use “N” to seperate some of the tracks and burn the CD. All is good, it works fine.
However, I am wondering is there a way to lable each track and the “album” so the information will show up on a CD player (or MP3 player if they transfer it)
I thought it would be nice to have these “albums and tracks” called something as opposed to “Track 1” “Track 2” etc.
I tried lableling after hitting “N” but it doesn’t seem to carry over.
    Thanks in advance!

No, Vegas is unable to do that Linda. CD Architect handles that well.

The feature you are looking for is called “CD TEXT” and Vegas Pro doesn’t support this. Sony CD Architect supports CD TEXT and Sony Sound Forge Pro supports CD TEXT, but not Vegas Pro.

Thank you for the information… I don’t see it listed on the CD Arch specs..but is that a software that would automatically adjust the volumne? Sometimes I get kids yelling into the microphone and I am adjusting it automatically.

[Linda O'Connell] “I don’t see it listed on the CD Arch specs..”

Hmmm… “CD Text support” is the very first feature listed under General on the CD Architect 5 Technical Specifications.

[Linda O'Connell] “Sometimes I get kids yelling into the microphone and I am adjusting it automatically.”

I’m not sure what plug-ins come with CD Architect but you can fix that with a compressor/limiter like Wave Hammer. This will limit the volume when it gets too loud.

There is also a free stand-alone tool called Levelator that is designed for leveling the audio of pod casts so it may be perfect for taking care of this as well.

Thanks for the info..when I said “I didn’t see it listed on the specs” I meant I didn’t see volume adjustment listed not the text part. Thanks again.

Oh I see. It says that just below that in the same section:

    • Volume and ASR envelopes for any event

So you can add a volume envelope and change the volume over time just like in Vegas Pro. As I said, if you are looking for an automated way of doing this you need to learn how to use plug-ins like compressors and limiters or use a program like levelator.

render WAV files in Vegas and burn the CD audio with Nero that supports CD text is another option…

    good luck
