  vanishing point problem

  I have a .vpe file of a computer laptop, which works fine bringing it into AE and allowing some reasonable camera moves. My problem is that i want to put an animated comp “into” the laptops screen.

  I cannot figure out how to achieve this…I have tried positioning the comp at the same transform settings as the screen plane but it appears way off.

  I tried to create a comp from the plane then add the animation into the new comp, but that just screws up the position of the plane in relation to the rest of the laptop.

  any suggestions?

  Have you tried replacing the source for the layer by Alt-dragging the movie footage item (in this case a precomposition) onto the original screen layer?

  (In case you didn’t know… “To replace the source footage item for a layer with another footage item, without affecting changes made to the layer properties, select the layer and then Alt-drag (Windows) or Option-drag (Mac OS) the new footage item onto the layer in the Timeline panel.”)
