  Video Preview Display “Black” only when playing time line, works when playing “Media” clips.

  Here’s a new one, just reopened a project I’ve been working on for three days,When playing the project on the timeline the video preview display shows only black, but I can hear the audio just fine.However When I click media clips in the media Bay I get both audio and video displayed in the Video Preview Window, go figure,??? Appreciate any help you can give us on this, thanks again.

  Sounds like you have the Trimmer set to Previewing.
