I have a few live shot clips which have a lot of background noise some of which I have been able to e.q. out. However the results are far from perfect. I don’t seem to be able to find an audio tool in my vegas 10 HD platinum or vegas 12 which is helpful- in fact they seem to contain the same toolbozx of options?? I suppose i’m looking for something like izototope RX2 only less expensive and easier to use. Any suggestions?
Also I don’t understand the difference between “Audio EventFX” and
“Track FX” In vegas 12 can I FX a single clip without affecting other clips on the track?

First, everything on the timeline is an event. There are no clips on the timeline.

I use the Noise Reduction in Sony Sound Forge – but I sure wish that Sony would add it to Vegas because it really works.

FX can be applied in three places. In the Project Media you can add an FX to the media clip (this is the only place in Vegas where a clip exists). The FX applies to every event made from that media clip on any track. You can add an FX to a track which applies to all events on that track. Or you can add the FX at the event level which applies only to that event. Audio FX can be added to any audio bus or the output master bus.

    thanks steve for the guidance,
when you say add an effect to a clip in ‘project media’ how is that achieved – do i not have to drag the clip onto the timeline to use the FXs or does this take place in the editing window?
sorry to be a little dense here but I’m relatively new to vegas.
i’m also not sure I understand the reference to the ‘event level’ and what exactly is an ‘event’ ?

You can’t add FX to the audio media in the Project Media window, but the options for audio FX are all over the place. First you can add audio FX at the track and event level:

In the Audio Mixing Console you have many opportunities to add FX depending on what you are trying to accomplish. Note, I am not an audio expert so I tend to place my FX to the master bus because it works.
