I’m finishing an hour and a bit film started on vegas studio so will finish on it. Every time I open the project I receive a message after 30 seconds or so of searching time telling me that the program cannot find one of the clips and inviting me to search. The search never finds the file so I enter ‘ignore’ in the pop up box and the project opens. The missing file is always there on the timeline and always plays perfectly. It is also in the media bins for the project section. I have tried the option to ‘specify a new location’ but message ‘cannot find file ‘appears and have also copied the file into several other project folders all stored in ‘my pictures’ on C drive.
My concern is when I render to finish the film will the clip appear in the finished article?
Secondly how do I convince the software that the file exists?
i’d be very grateful for guidance.

….Yes it will, If its there on the timeline playing nicely before you render, You are ok.

Try renaming that file and place it in another location,
then save a New project all together with this new file name.
Now when you open the project, hopefully you wont see this issue.

[Steve Rhoden] “Try renaming that file and place it in another location, then save a New project all together with this new file name.”

Along those lines, try renaming the file outside of Movie Studio. Then when you open the project, Movie Studio will prompt you to find the missing file. Select the option to specify a new file and point to the renamed file. That should re-establish the link. Save your project and it should be fine.

The bigger concern is why did this happen? It points to your project getting corrupt somehow. This is never a good thing. I would keep lots of backups.

thank you very much at least the knowledge that it will render is very welcome news. I’ll try renaming and see if that cures the niggle. thanks again.
