MXF Files & Sony Vegas Issue
Posted by Jackie Luffy on August 9, 2013 at 7:19 amI have just bought a new camera Cannon XF 300, the files I can view in Sony Vegas the only thing is I have to individually go inside each clips folder and import it that way!
This will take so long to import all the clips, at least an hour and a half for each session of footage shot
Does anyone know how I can import these files in one go all together?
I know its not an issue of Vegas not being able to handle the MXF files because I can put them in and play them and edit them?
Any help or suggestions would be apprieciated thanks

I too have the XF300 and use the Canon Utility to extract the MXF files into a Folder. Job Done!

August 11, 2013 at 12:29 amWow thank you! I had the disk but just assumed it would be easier to just grab them the old fashioned way off the card!
Thanks! this works so well!
Im assuming you just select the clips you want and go
Edit -> Export to MXF correct? it seems like thats the way to do it is that how you do it for your camera?
I also noticed as well that it is MUCH MUCH faster using the Canon Utility in terms of writing the MXF files than it was from not using the program and highlighting all the footage from the card and dragging it into a folder on your computer, is this normal?
Thanks a bunch

Yes and yes!
I have an external Lexar USB 3.0 Card reader directly, permanently plugged into my USB 3.0 port on my PC, and I can tell you, that is blazingly fast. You’ll also note that that Lexar has a SD slot too, nice for my Canon PS-SX50hs. I don’t, haven’t and will never, unless forced too, use the camera to download the files. Why? Well, the camera is for shooting and me plugging/playing with cables, on a port on my camera? Neah, not so much . . . . Once back at my studio out with the card, pack camera away, and slot in the CF card into the Lexar.
