Infinite hang at 97% at frame 8673 while rendering, even though there are 8970 frames in the precisely 4 minute, 59 second, and 29 frame video I attempted to render (I had a half hour footage that I am dividing into equal 5 minute videos for uploading to YouTube).

This occurs with about a minute left in time remaining, and when it hangs at 97% then the time remaining counts down to zero and then the frames rendered is reset to zero, even though not all frames have rendered.

I tried killing Vegas with task manager, opening the project, and rendering again twice, and it didn’t work either time.

I noticed that frame 8673 is where I added another audio track. This is the 3rd audio track in the project.

    What do I do?

Is this perhaps a limitation of my computer (its a laptop)and I should make either make the video shorter so it stops crashing or first render the audio as PCM uncompressed in Vegas and then add in the audio since it appears to be a limitation of my computer of only rendering a video with 2 audio tracks longer than 5 minutes?

I have rendered videos around 2-4 minutes long (songs) with no problems in the past, but now at 5 minutes long it is crashing.

First – see this thread for a hint:

What happens if you take out the audio at 8763?

I doubt that it’s your PC.

When I remove the third audio track it works.

And when I first render two of the audio tracks into a stereo audio file and then import the stereo audio file into the project then it also works.

This is using an Avid M-Audio interface, which is only 2 channels.

So I think its a limitation of the interface that it can only render 2 channels at any one time from one source file.

How I got 3 audio tracks was from duplicating the footage audio twice, and that was there was only one source file in the project–the footage file.

Vegas doesn’t really care where the original media comes from, as long as it’s compatible. Everything on the timeline is an event. An event is simply a pointer to a media clip. (There are no clips on the timeline, just events). You can have any number of events pointing to the same media clip.

    Lesson over.

I would zoom way in at the questionable frame to make sure that there isn’t something strange in the timeline.

Also, did you use Resmon to see what is hanging the program?

So, the third audio track is just a copy from another track?
