  • make a software demonstration DVD via Sony Vegas ?

Hi Guys, I Have to make a software demonstration DVD, how should I approach it. I was thinking one way to approach it was to use Microsoft Expression or Camtasia , to capture the software demonstration what is on my pc, next the video that created by Camtasia or Microsoft Expression import it into Sony Vegas DVD editing software and put it together with subtitles and voice over. What do people think of this approach or could you suggest any other approach ? Any responses appreciated….

PS if there is a better forum that I should put this question in, please feel free to mention

Yea, DVD’s really don’t have enough resolution to demonstrate computer software (they’re only 653×480). You’ll need to capture at a very low screen resolution or zoom in a lot for people to be able to see what you are doing. You’re not going to like the quality because small words on a computer screen don’t hold up will to MPEG-2 compress which was designed to encode scenery in a movie so expect it to be a bit fuzzy.

I use Camtasia all the time. It’s excellent software for capturing demos and it has an excellent editor that’s easy to use and filled with special funtions that make zooming and overlays a lot easier so there is no need to use Vegas really. Just edit with Camtasia and author to DVD. You’ll still need a DVD authoring program and Vegas can burn DVD’s without menus if that’s all you need. Of course you can edit with Vegas too.
