BMD, AJA or Matrox for Vegas Pro 12 ?
How do you guys work with Vegas Pro 12 ?
I hardly see any mention of compatible video capture device on Sony’s website .

Hey Zhang,
When I first built my system I had AJA installed, and never got it working. After talking with the AJA folks, it seems they’re all about Mac; couldn’t tell me much about a Windows system.
Replaced it with BMD and all is well.

Hi,
Sony Vegas Pro is NLE programe so its not necessary to use capture device but if you want to capture dv tapes then you go for capture card or on board firewire capture.

– Do you monitor your color-correction on your PC screen ?
– Do you check for anomalies on your PC screen when chroma-keying or when applying other effects?
– Can you assure your titles are within safe-area ? -

1)Yes,i calibrate my monitors (ASUS PA246Q) with a SPYDER 3 ELITE.Its best solution for calibrate monitors and recommended by Mr.John Rofrano.
2)For titles,there is option for make safe area on SVP.

I’ve found BMD and aja devices that use pcie cards work well. I’m not at my system now but I have a aja Lh?? card outputting HD to a panny pro plasma that I’ve been using for years.
And I still use FireWire for previewing to JVC pro crt.
And Vegas easily handles HD output to a secondary display via your display card as well.

– Can you assure your titles are within safe-area ?”Yes to all 3, you can calibrate your main editing screen and then do a full screen preview and Vegas will apply the calibration preset. Vegas has guidelines for framing and title areas

Thanks for your reply. My response to Thayalan was actually in sarcasm.
I prefer to check my video output on a properly calibrated external monitor but I guess most Vegas users don’t judging by the lack of info in here and elsewhere.
