I have found V12 to be very stable compared to V11, but have had to copy tracks, markers and events of my finished projects to V11 just to render, as I was seeing strange artifacts in the V12 output. It adds about 5 minutes to my workflow to do this, but that 5 minutes is nothing compared to the constant crashing and time wasted of V11.
Sony’s testing and quality control is not like it used to be. I have seriously contemplated using Adobe editing software, but the cost to migrate is quite prohibitive, plus the reason I moved to Vegas was because Premiere used to be as unstable as a flea on a dog. Vegas was rock solid in V8, 9 and 10, and then along came V11… freezes and crashes galore. V12 is definitely a vast improvement, but still has issues unfortunately.
There are those on this forum who have not had any issues with V11 and V12, but they are quite selective about their hardware and video cards and have no issues as a result. As a semi-professional hobbyist, my budget does not quite stretch as far, hence the issues, I guess. The money I make is enough to cover my software, hardware and camera purchases 🙂
