    I would like a clarification.
Suppose all the editing is done with sv pro 11 and rendered with HD settings–V11 (wmv) – 6Mbps HD 720-30 video-1280×720 size. The same clip is again imported into windows movie maker 6.0 for applying ‘Transitions”(since vegas leaves a black strip/patch in transistions) and rendered in WMM itself. Will there be any loss of picture quality or any other in this process? To a superficial view, there seems to be none. Would like to know technically. BTB,a considerable loss of time is saved in rendering with WMM– takes only 10 minutes whereas pro takes one hour for rendering the same

[jaysri sridharan] “since vegas leaves a black strip/patch in transistions”

What are you referring to? I have no problems with Vegas Pro 11.0 and transitions.

[jaysri sridharan] “The same clip is again imported into windows movie maker 6.0 for applying ‘Transitions and rendered in WMM itself. Will there be any loss of picture quality or any other in this process?”

Technically, yes there will be a loss specifically because WMV is a lossy delivery format and not optimal for intermediary editing and re-rendering.

[jaysri sridharan] “To a superficial view, there seems to be none. Would like to know technically.”

This is a good observation because while there may be a loss in data, there may not be visible loss. Usually with one extra render in any codec you will not be able to see the loss. It’s only after multiple renders do things begin to really deteriorate.

I’m guessing that this is because it only renders the part that have changed while Vegas Pro re-renders everything. WMM does only one thing… deal with WMV files so it can afford to very good at that one single format.
