How to get out of Expanded Edit Mode?
I have some clips on my timeline and I wanted to edit one on one end more precisely, so I pressed the Num Lock key, then pressed the 5 key to enter Expanded Edit Mode.
I then edited the edge of the clip how I wanted by pressing the 1 and 3 keys to adjust the clip.
I then pressed the 5 key to get out of the Expanded Edit, and I went back to my normal timeline, only the clips are there with the “X line” in between.
I can’t get out of it, even in normal edit mode.

OK.
Nevermind.
All I had to do was right-click on the track header and deselect Expand Track Layers.
But, question is, how did that happen? Once you get out of expanded mode, shouldn’t it go back to normal in the normal editing screen?

I’m often getting that X between tracks when I’m in multicamera mode. I’m doing a ripple edit or something and accidentally hit a key to get that expanded mode and it wasn’t the number 5 key. I just don’t know what key it was since it’s always hit by accident very quickly. Anyone know how I keep opening up that up and often the 5 key doesn’t close it. I have to collapse my multicamera mode to rid it.

Esc key should get you out of expanded edit mode.
When in doubt, the Esc key, most times can get you out of something modal. True most applications I have used.
I only know of two ways to get into expanded edit mode. Double click on a cut and the keypad 5 key.
