Saw some previous help in this dept. so putting it out to discussion (Thomas Roberts??).

Love my H4n however would like to use XLR 1/2 inputs for redundant audio recording in this way..

port 1 – Sennheiser shotgun condenser mic.

port 2 – Sennheiser wireless lav mic.

I’m trying to figure out how to set the record level for these 2 inputs independently since my wireless is always so hot compared to shotgun. Don’t want to MonoMix the two and think answer may lie in MTR mode but haven’t been successful configuring.

    Any suggestions??

    Thanks John H.

You can definitely solve this problem in 4CH mode. There’s no independent volume control, but you can level the mics using the mixer. Hit MENU, scroll to MIXER, select it. Then scroll until you find INPUT PAN, and use this to match the mic levels. From then on, both mics should be good with the same gain set.

Or you could drop a pad on the hot mic.
