I want to make sure I’m following the right path in using Cinestyle and Looks (eg. Magic Bullet) in Vegas…. and by “make sure” I actually mean “I’m doing this and worry it’s wrong.”

    My current flow:

    – acquire footage on my Canon DSLR using the Technicolor Cinestyle picture style and the associated recommended settings
    – bring footage into Vegas Pro timeline
    – apply Sony Color Curves plugin with one of the LUT-equivalent S-curves to that channel of the timeline. (I’ve found two LUT equivalents for Vegas. They appear slightly different, so I’m not sure which one is closer to the official Technicolor table.)
    – then add Looks last in the chain.

Now, my confusion comes here: Do I need the step of un-Cinestyling the video before the Looks, or are the Looks intended to be applied to the flattened video captured with Cinestyle? Or….is the S-curve a must in all situations, so any further steps (levels, HSL, whatever) is applied to the gorgeously unmunged footage?

Many thanks…. this is my first post.

I’m not sure if bumping is uncool or just pointless, but….bump?
