I am using Vegas Movie Studio HD 11.0. I just came back from a week away, during which time I left my computer on so that I could access it remotely with LogMeIn. I’m not sure if that has anything to do with it, but Movie Studio is acting up now.

Specifically, when I try to open Pan/Crop for a clip, the program freezes. I don’t get an error message, “not responding”, or anything. It just doesn’t respond and I have to close it.

I have already tried updating the driver on my graphics card and doing whatever I can to improve the performance of my computer (disk cleanups, virus scans, ReadyBoost, etc.).

I read somewhere about going into tools in Vegas and turning off GPU acceleration, but that option is not even available to me.

I have Windows 7 SP1 with 2GB of RAM. Everything has worked fine for me up until now. Does anyone know how I might be able to fix this issue? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Reinstall the program.

Before reinstall, do try a simple Factory Reset.

Hold down CTRL+SHIFT and fireup VP. It will reset ALL your settings.

Have you unistalled logmein? – it may be using a mirror driver which can issues with your native video driver,
Uninstall it, then reboot and see what happens.

Thank you all for your answers.

I tried the factory reset, but I don’t think that combination of commands actually did anything on my computer. I also tried reinstalling to no avail.

However, I found that I am only having the issue with this one particular project. I opened an old project out of curiosity, and sure enough, there was no problem opening pan/crop in that one.

So, I tried closing out all of the windows up top where pan/crop normally opens (project media, etc.), and finally I got a bit of a different response. It was taking a while to come up and not responding, so I went to Task Manager to close the program, at which point the pan/crop screen actually did come up, but after that the program was completely unresponsive.

Since it’s only a problem with this project, it might have something to do with how many video files I’ve imported, which is a lot more than usual. But I did have one other project that used quite a lot which I never had a problem with, so I’m not sure.

Anyway, I will try uninstalling LogMeIn next – interesting idea.

I tried that and it didn’t make a difference. I tried uninstalling some other programs, too, but nothing.

Are there any other types of programs that can cause problems with video or whatnot?
