When I import a .mov file from the new GH3 (1920 x 1080, 24p, 72Mbps All-INTRA) even though it’s a 7 minute file the attributes show it as a 38 minute file. When I drag it in to the timeline the audio track is 7 minutes long but the video track is 38 minutes long. The last frame is just repeated for 31 minutes. I can drag the video track to match the length of the audio track, but I’m wondering why it is doing this? Any ideas on how I can fix?

It happens with every file I import in to Vegas from the GH3…everytime.

Have you tried using the software that came with the camera?

CD Rom contained manuals only, but that’s a good idea. I’ll check the Panasonic website and see if they have something. Sounds like a Codec issue. Would you agree?

Actually, it included 2 CD-Roms. One was just manuals but the other had PHOTOfunSTUDIO 8.5 and SILKYPIX Developer Studio. Since I have Photoshop I didn’t install these. Do you think I should?

I believe that PHOTOfunSTUDIO is the utility I came across when I googled this camera. Does the manual say anything about it?

I am having the same issues Using Sony Vegas Pro 11 & 12 with the Panasonic GH3… I have been shooting AVCHD files and it seems to be OK when I put AVCHD or .MTS files on the timeline…

Today when I put the GH3 files… 24 P .MOV files on the time line it extends the video file way beyond the audio…

This is most frustrating… Have you contacted Sony Creative software support regarding this issue?

    Kindest and sincerest warm regards,

I contacted Sony Vegas Tech Support and sent them files .mov files @ 50 Mbs…

They replied and said this is a known issue… They are working on this and will have the fix in future upgrades…

The work around is to continue to use AVCHD files.

Works fine in Premiere. I load in the files in Vegas and just move the audio to match the video. It’s a nuisance, but it works.
