    Hi all,

    I’m new here.

    I have been searching around about our problem in rendering of our video for broadcast.

    Here are the requirements they want.
    Video: MPEG IMX (30Mbps), 720X570 – 25 Fps, 30.11 Mbps.
    Audio: 16 Bit – 48 Khz, 1.54 Mps
    Format: MOV File.

    Do I need special codec to be able to come up with this video?

    I did ample searching on the net and I have been redirected to several post here in your website. This time I decided to ask the question myself because I can’t figure this out myself.

    So far the closest settings I found on my sony vegas is rendering using Sony MFX which gives me almost identical to what the TV station wants except for the following.

    My rendered file is .mxf not .mov
    My rendered file is 720×576 ( I am assuming the required 720×570 is a typo err on their side)

    Now my question is this. Is there any other setting that I can make on my sony vegas to make the rendered file .mov?

    I personally believe it isn’t important what is the extension but the TV station is giving us a hard time. Probably because they want us to take their video conversion service which is too high. And why would we, we have all project files of our video and we can render it in other specification.

    If you know any FCP users, get them to render it out for you in MOV format.

    Thanks for the reply.

    Actually, that is the path I am looking at right now because I am using vegas on a bootcamp (imac)

    The only thing I am worried is I do not know FC and I don’t know someone who knows it.

    If that is the way we are heading, am I correct that the process would be for me to render IMX from SVP and then render the IMX from FC to produce MOV?

    Hello,

    As far as i see maybe there is a mistake in the forma.
    The standard for a TV format SD is 720×576. The file properties are based on the broadcasting software that they are using. It can be playbox, avid and str…all of them work best with different settings.

    About the mov settings – yes you can render mov. For that you need quicktime installed first.
    Then in the render options you have .mov format.
    In there you have custom resolution. Even if they need 720×570 you can type in there and save it. Field options and frames are also made from there. As encoder you can use photo – jpeg.

    What version of vegas are you using?

    Yes I was assuming that the resolution they sent was wrong but that is not a big deal because it can be customized on the settings.

    I am using SVP 10a.

    I was able to see the .MOV option on the render settings but the maximum presets is 3Mbps. The TV station requires 30Mbps. That is where I am having problem because I can’t find a way to render in 30Mbps.

    You can’t render the correct MOV file on a PC. Not without purchasing the MPEG-2 codec for QuickTime because it doesn’t come with one on the PC. Ask the station if they accept native MPEG2 instead of MPEG2 wrapped in QuickTime (i.e. a *.MPG file). If not, you need to render it on a Mac.
