  • Editing 3D on Two Monitors with Quadro 4000

My goal is to display the Vegas Pro editor on a standard “primary” monitor while displaying the 3D image on a “secondary” 3D monitor.

I am using a Quadro 4000 card with Nvidia 3D Vision, which works fine as long as the 3D monitor (an Alienware 2310) is used to display both the editing interface and the full-screen 3D image; but it cannot display both AT THE SAME TIME because the full-screen 3D image hides the Vegas interface.

The Quadro card, which has one dual-link DVI jack and two Viewport jacks, is required for displaying 3D with 3D Vision. The 3D monitor requires the dual-link DVI, so the primary monitor needs to be connected to one of the Viewport jacks on the Quadro.

However, when I click the preview button in Vegas, BOTH monitors display the full-screen 3D image so the editing interface cannot be seen on either monitor.

What I want is for the secondary, 3D monitor to display the 3D image while the primary monitor continues to display the 2D Vegas interface. Is there a software switch to make this possible, or do I need different hardware?
