DVCPROHD Footage – No Audio
I have a bunch of DVCPROHD footage that I am bringing into AE CS3. The problem is there is no audio on any of the clips in AE. If I play the clips back in QT the audio is there and plays back just fine. The “speaker” icon is on and audio preview is set to 8:00 Base 30. I have the audio hardware set to “built-in digital output”. Does anyone have any thoughts on what it could be? Thank you for your time!

Good evening, Dave. Thank you for taking the time to respond. I export a WAV file from the DVCPROHD footage and brought it into AE. The WAV file played just fine, no problems at all. Any thoughts?

The footage was actually shot on P2, so I followed the “Log and Transfer” procedure inside of Final Cut Pro. I then took the “transferred” files in my capture folder and imported them into AE to begin compositing. Everything also plays back fine inside of FCP.

Hi, I am an FCP editor and I just had exactly this problem when bringing some DVCPRO HD footage into AE CS4. We shot direct to FCP studio 2 via firewire from a P2 camera. The QT’s had audio, but when we took it into AE, there was no audio, no waveform – nothing! After talking to everyone and her dog, and getting absolutely nowhere, I noticed that the QT files had two mono tracks of audio, one with audio, and one without. I deleted the empty audio track in QT Pro, and voila! when I took the file into AE, the audio was fine.
