If one decides to prepare discrete segments for a production, is it better to nest these segment veg files into the master veg file, or instead just copy and paste the events from the various segments into the master veg file? Your expert advice, please?

The proper and safest method is Nesting Rich…..

Got to agree with Steve on this, nesting is the best route to take.

I would nest. That’s what it’s there for.

OK, I have been following your advice and nesting edited veg segments into the master veg file. Now that I am an hour into the production, I am noticing that when I drop a veg file into the timeline that SVP 12 wants to re-render just about every sfap0 file (are these audio files?). I now have been waiting over 7 minutes for these files to re-render so that I can continue editing. What’s going on? What can I do, if anything, to get back to editing quicker? Thanks in advance.

I’m not sure why it would re-render he existing audio proxies. It should just be rendering the new one. It sounds like it might be a bug. I would report it to Sony. Make sure you have the last build of Vegas Pro 12.0 that just came out the other day.
