I have done some research regarding this subject but most of the answers I find are specific to how many hard drives one should have. I already have all the drives I want but I need assistance in setting up Sony Movie Studio 12 to utilize the drives.

I have a small SSD for my OS and programs. I do not want any project files on this drive. I have a 3TB HDD “source” media drive and another 1TB drive to write to. I have found the following options in Sony Movie Studio 12 and am unsure how to utilize them with my hard drive set up:

Manage Project Media option – I do not fully understand what this does. If I drag/drop a file into Sony, does this cause it to create a new copy of the file and put it into the project files or does it only reference the source file?

Prerenders- Obvious (I think) and I have set it up to be on my “write” HDD

Recorded Files – what are these?

Temporary Files – better to have on my “source” HDD or my “write” HDD?

Additionally, is it better to set up my project settings/format to match my source media or my final output file type? Any help will be appreciated as I am semi new to Vegas but have built a new PC dedicated to it. Does anyone have any other thoughts to speed up working and rendering time using multiple hard drives? I have found some great answers on this site and finally decided to join. I look forward to getting some good assistance and eventually contributing myself.
