Following up on my recent post about Vegas crashing…one of my IT guys just uninstalled .NET from my machine and things seem to now run smoothly with Vegas. Haven’t gone through all the paces, but at least Vegas doesn’t crash constantly. Also need to try DVDA. In the meantime, is .NET actually needed to run Vegas/DVDA? What functionality does Vegas use from .NET?

I see, well it must be .Net framework 4 he uninstalled,
because Windows 7 have up to versions 3.5 pre-installed.
That means it probably was installed as a requirement for
    another recently installed program.

Yes, Vegas has used the .Net Framework for scripting and other functions since Vegas 4.0. It will not install unless the proper version of the .Net Framework is installed first so it’s quite possible that installing other versions of .Net could mess things up because Microsoft has been terrible about compatibility with .Net applications.

Ok, thanks guys, I’ll bring this to IT. The ironic thing is the only software I’ve installed since before Christmas is DVDA 6. I realized that I’d upgraded to Vegas 12 but had not grabbed the latest DVDA, so downloaded the new version a week or so ago. Strange.
