  drive has received an illegal command

  I asked the question below about bit rate too low. \\i followed advice and deleted cached items on dvd architect. I reimported videos, made menu. Selected make DVD, had no red error messages so started to burn disc. After a while disc ejects and message says “drive has received an illegal command” also”‘SFMMCX’-(17)

  What do I need to do to burn my project- PLEASE??

  There’s no telling what might be wrong. You’ll need to contact Sony support to decipher that error message.

  In the mean time try using the ISO Image Writer as your target device to creating an ISO file that you can burn with another program like BurnAware Free. I’m not sure if DVD Architect Studio 5.0 has that options but if it does that will get you a disc made.

  If DVD Architect Studio 5.0 doesn’t have the ISO option, just prepare the disc to create the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders and then use BurnAware Free with the DVD-Video option to create the disc from the folders.

  I realize you’d like to get DVD Architect Studio working but this is just a workaround while you wait for Sony to get back to you with a solution.

  How old is the DVD burner? Have you tried looking at the manufacturer’s site to see if there’s a firmware upgrade?

  Except for laptops, the price of a DVD drive is less than $20 now, you can even get BD burners for $69 at Microcenter. If your current drive is more than a few years ago, I would just try a new drive. If it’s a laptop, then an external USB2 drive would cost about double the internal drives.

  I upgraded DVD ARCHITECT to the current build and the problem was solved. thanks for your help.
