Screen is cropped having put it onto DVD?
Hi
I have now finished my project, which has video, images and text.
After rendering, I used Windows DVD maker to burn it onto a DVD.
I have now played it on the TV, and it’s cropped the screen on both sides. Not by a great deal, but enough to make some of the pictures look a bit weird.
It’s not the TV aspect, as I’ve tried all options and it’s the same on each.
Can anyone help?

Just to add, from what I can see, it seems to have cropped from the right more so than the left.
The difference on the left is negligible, if at all.
The right is clearly chopping off much of the photo.

It is fine in the video file on my laptop, which means the problem is occuring between getting it onto a DVD and playing it on the TV.
Appreciate that means it’s not a Sony Vegas issue, but any ideas?

Why did you not use DVD Architect that comes with Sony Vegas? Look for a setting in DVD maker to set the aspect ratio to the same one you rendered the video with. I have never used Windows DVD maker.

Cropped by how much? Older CRT televisions would overscan as much as 10%, but you PC monitor does not overscan at all. Even current LCD and Plazma TV sets do a little overscan. That’s why we have the “Action Safe” overlay in the preview window. Everything in the Action Safe grid is guaranteed to be visible on any playback device.

What format and template did you use to render? What are your project properties? SD? HD? 4:3? 16:9? We really need a lot more information to understand what you are trying to do. Post screen shots of your project properties and render properties so we can see what you’ve done.
