  • Objects in 3d space on a path

I’m trying to have multiple objects move on a 3d path like text can do.
I’ve drawn an arch that I want the objects to conform to but I can’t seem to have the objects move on the path I want. I know about copying the path shape to position keyframes but I need them to move together on the path from back to front in an arch.

    I’d appreciate any help.

    Thanks,

    Rich

    Dave,

    Thanks for the help!
Once I get them on the arc where I want them, how do I then move all them on the arc together? Using a null doesn’t get them to follow the arc shape.

    Thanks,

    Rich

There are several methods that use expressions. Visit Dan Eberts excellent MotionScript site for examples.

I’ve put together a sample you can use. The distance between layers is controlled by the slider on the Control layer. Each follower layer has a script that references the layer above to calculate its position using valueAtTime.

    Brian,

I tried the preset but i’m still on cs3. Do you have the same preset in cs3 version?

    Thanks,

    Rich
