DVD Architect – Audio Issues

I’m having a really tedious issue with my audio using this software and I hope you can all help.
I’ve read through the forum and found one or two possible solutions, but the hassle this issue has caused has left me confused, and I’d like to speak with an expert before I proceed just to get some clarity in my head before I waste any more time banging my head against a brick wall.I’m currently without internet at home and using my work PC to resolve this problem, which is far from ideal. The more basic and clear the info given, the better. I’m thick skinned so please speak to me as though I am a complete idiot (which I’m not, honest, ha!)
OKAY, here is my issue.
I have completed my Vegas project. Roughly an hour in length.
I tell Vegas to Make Movie and select DVD.
Once opening DVD Architect, there is no audio. There is a message box saying something along the lines of ‘we can’t find the audio file’
(apologies, I know this is vague, but I dont have Vegas in front of me for reference)I’ve tried lots of variations now, and it’s become confusing.
I found a similar thread on here detailing the same problem, and I have saved the url so I can hopefully check it on my phone later.However, before I follow those directions, I’d like to know if I’ve done anything wrong in Vegas to cause this.
There’s no point in me listing what I have and haven’t done as I dont have Vegas in front of me for reference.
Please, if somebody has the time and patience, can somebody tell me the preferred steps from starting a New Project on Vegas, the settings for both Video and Audio? And then let me know the preferred steps for creating a DVD on Architect?
No problems need solving – I just want to know how the experts would create a DVD with a decent picture and audio.
I’ll follow those steps and if my problems persist, then I’ll come back and ask for problem solving adviceThe instructions, and ‘Show Me’ functions on both softwares seem clear until things start going wrong, and now I don’t want to waste anymore time reading them.
I need an idiots guide here folks, do your worst 🙂

[Chris Purdie] “I tell Vegas to Make Movie and select DVD.”
I assume by this comment that you are using Movie Studio and used the Make Movie button to create your DVD. That should have created the audio as well. Let’s see if you can do it manually.
- Select the menu item Project | Render As…
- Open the Dolby Digital AC-3 Studio render list
- Select the Stereo DVD template
- Enter a filename in the Name field
- Press the Render button to render
That should give you the audio you’re looking for. Just drop that on the timeline in DVD Architect Studio under your video and it should match up.

Yes its movie maker im using, apologies again for the vagueness of my info – im not working in ideal settings art the moment.I tried your steps, but it didn’t work.
Dvd architect gave an error message audio couldn’t be found.i also noticed when opening a new project to try it from scratch that when looking for the type of file in the drop down menu (on dvda) that ac3 wasn’t avaiable.does this mean i dont have it on my pc, and if so, can i still proceed! -

Ah… OK. Depending on how old your copy of Movie Studio and DVD Architect Studio is, you may not have AC3 support. What version are you using?

Okay, im sat in front of my pc now so hopefully i can be more clear.
I’m using Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10.0.
&
DVD Architect 5.0Both arepretty new, as is the PC im running froom.
I should add that when i render on Vegas, i can render using AC-3.
However, it’s wwhen i open. Architect that i can’t search for the file.Are there any variations on this?

Actually the current version of Movie Studio Platinum is 12.0 so 10.0 is kinda old. 😉

I assume you have DVD Architect Studio not DVD Architect Pro. Some versions of DVD Architect Studio did not support AC3. To see if yours does, go to File | New and check the Project audio format to see if AC-3 Stereo is one of the options. If it is not, then your version of DVD Architect Studio does not support AC-3 audio. If it does, then try double-clicking on your video to open it and drag and drop the AC-3 audio down to the empty audio track and see if it accepts it.

I don’t know how you post from your phone. When I use my iPhone, I can’t see enough of the screen to really tell what I’m doing so no apologies needed. 😉

Hi, the system supports it, by the looks of it. However, dragging and dropping doesn’t work.
If i try an alternative like ‘insert object’ i receive an error code saying that. ‘file is not of the required type’
