Rendering PNG Sequence w/ Alpha in Vegas Pro12.0
Hey,
I made a file in After Effects but the AVI is massive, so I am trying to reduce its size in Sony Vegas.
I right click the video and chose the Alpha channel to be ‘Straight (unmatted)’ And I can see that it is now transparent.
When I render to a Quicktime PNG Sequence, re-import the new file, I can’t get the alpha channel. Does anybody know whats wrong?

Try to set “Compressed depth” setting to 32bpp

Yes, the Compressed depth has to be 32bpp color as Aleksey said.

Since Aleksey and Steve already gave you the answer, let me ask a different question:
What do you think Vegas is going to do to make the file smaller that After Effects cannot? Why not render the Quicktime PNG Sequence directly in After Effects?

Good question, ive started and finished numerous fully completed
commercials and productions using after effects alone, without
