My question is will one of these methods give me a better quality DVD?

In SVP12 I render out the video for bluray. In Architect I set it up to burn a BR. In Architect it renders it again, and I have my BR.

If a customer says, I want a DVD copy, I use the same Architect project but change the settings for a DVD copy. In Architect it renders it again for DVD.

The other method I have used in the past is to go back to the actual SVP file and render it for DVD such as DVD NTSC widescreen. Then open a new project in Architect and burn the DVD. In that scenario Architect does not have to render the video.

I noticed when I used my BR rendered footage and then rerendered in Architect the file size as larger… I am assuming that means better quality? Yes or No?

    Any thoughts on this?

This is the easiest method. Just change your project in DVD Architect to DVD and let it render to DVD. Technically you will get better quality by going back to the original project and rendering because it’s one less render, but since you are going from HD to SD, I’m betting that you can’t visually see the quality difference.

If the file size is larger it may have used a higher bit-rate which should equate to better quality. Does it look any different? because at the end of the day, if you can’t tell, then it doesn’t matter.

I have noticed this too. Why does Architect need to render again if we choose a BR template in SVP12?

Thanks John, No I can’t really see any difference in quality. Mark
