Vegas 12 -PNG Images getting Warped when Resizing in Event Pan/Crop
I started working on Vegas 12, everything worked fine; I even noticed that playing back 13 video channels run smoother than with 11. The only problem I encountered so far is when placing PNG transparent graphics and trying to resize or even move in Event Pan/Crop window they change shape.
I read that someone recommended using Track motion instead of Pan/Crop, the problem is that you need a separate track per graphic to be able to move and position them I work with TV infomercials with tons of transparent graphics.When I place a PNG graphic on top of my video and try to resize it, it goes all over the place, it doesn’t maintain the aspect ratio, even though the “Maintain aspect” is on “no” but the “Lock aspect ratio” button is “on” allowing me to resize the graphic. Also when I move a graphic that is in the middle of the window, as soon as it gets close to the edge it starts to swivel.
I never had any problem like this with SVP 11.
Has anyone experienced that? Should there be a switch that needs to be turned on?I added some screen shots, the first one is after dropping the graphic, it looks good, on the second one I just moved it to the left, and if I keep moving it, it would get warped.
Any help will be appreciated.

I tried on my system and it worked fine for me. Using 1920×1080 m2ts video with a png picture on the track above. I set the picture crop to Match Output Aspect and then proceeded to scale and reposition the image. I double checked to make sure I had the GPU on under the Video tab in Preferences.

Listen to what you are saying. You are complaining that it doesn’t maintain the aspect ratio but you have Maintain Aspect Ratio = NO. Turn it to YES and it will stop stretching your images and maintain the proper aspect.
Lock Aspect is under the CROP settings and affects the aspect of the CROP. Maintain Aspect Ratio is under the SOURCE settings and affects the aspect of the SOURCE. These are two different things.

In porting a project from SVP 11, a png graphic that was working perfectly acted crazily in SVP 12. Sometimes the slightest adjustment of scale factor would cause a sudden, huge change in size in the video preview screen. Rotation became unpredictable as well. After many hours of trying to figure what was going on, I came to discover that the pixel size of my png file was way to high for SVP 12. Resized it down to around 1300×1000 using photoshop. Now my png graphic behaves correctly.

Thanks for the suggestion. Now that you mention it, I actually make my PNG images kind of big. I notice that some of the PNGs don’t behave badly, those are the small size ones. I will try to export them from my graphics program at 1920 x 1080 that way they’ll fit perfectly on my video session.

Thanx, I resize the .png files to 1200 x 1200 px, and It fix the problem with pan/crop…. Thank you one more time :), I was trying to solve this problem about one year 🙂
