My friend edits in FCP and I edit in SVP11
I think I remember seeing a way that he can output a project file in a format that SVP will recognize and open.

I know there are some features that are lost but the project is a 7 camera concert and all he has done is synch all the individual video files on the time line(to the audio track), and I want to check everything is in perfect synch to audio

oh and im in LA and he is in NYC

You both need to install the Avid DNxHD codec (it’s free) and get him to render in that format.

As I recall, there are several render options so do some experimenting to see which option best suits your needs.

WE want to create a SVP compatible project file(not render)….i think you misread my original post

You’re correct. I did misread your original post.
Your question has been asked numerous times on here and other Vegas forums and the answer is usually no, it can’t be done 🙁
If your FCP user has a utility called Automatic Duck, try exporting an EDL with it and see if you can read it but there are no guarantees.

yeah, i guess that was an edl. it is a sort of solution but veeeery veeeery poor one. you will loose all your effects, settings etc. edl is only a text info which in simple words says vegas which file to take as an input and which part of it where to put on a timeline

That is exactly what i want, all the source file is synched to audio on the time line but no editing has been done. He outputed an EDL file and I tried opening it in SVP11 but it didnt do what we wanted and I am not sure what we did wrong.

We both have identical source files and file structure

both of you – make a simplest project, take two files, drop them somewhere and output as edl. then open them in notepad and compare. maybe there are some options in fc which make edl useless for sv?
