The computer I am using isn’t especially fast. I have some sony z1u’s recording at 1080i in M2T format and a couple canons shooting in 1080p MOV format. The M2T runs fine on my computer, sometimes the fps will drop to below 20 but for the most part it stays high, soon as I use the MOV though it drops to 5 fps. I am wondering is there any way of making that faster without getting a new pc? The project is set at 1080 i and running it in preview auto mode.

I ran into that a long time ago and I had to invest in a fast computer and couldn’t find any other way. When avi. files were the format, everything was extremely fast and smooth but when the m2t’s came out my system crawled to a halt.

You didn’t say what version of Vegas you are using. Later versions (Vegas Pro 10.0 & 11.0) handle Canon MOV files a lot smoother, but as Roger pointed out… getting a faster PC that can handle the newer HD formats won’t hurt either. 😉
