  • Adding “Media FX” or “Event FX”… Would have any specific application to each one?

Posted by Carlos Silva on July 12, 2012 at 7:14 pm

    Hi,

If I right click a video track and select either “Media FX” or “Event FX”, all the same plugins are available. The output is the same as well.

Actually, when applying the “Event FX” a green mark appears in the track, what is handy in comparison of the “Media FX”, that doesn’t mark nothing in the track. Because of this I am always using “Event FX”.

Would have any specific application to each one? Am I missing something?

    Thanks!!!

Event will add the effect to just that ONE event on the timeline.

Media will add it to that piece of media and it will also be applied to all other events on the timeline with that same media.

You can also add effects to a Track which will apply it to all events on that track.

And you can add effects to the preview screen which will apply it to EVERYTHING.

    A tiny addon:
Sony Stabilization can’t be applied to EventFX. It should be applied to MediaFX only.

as long as it sucks, it shouldn’t be added anywhere. i suggest mercali.

Thanks for tips about Sony Stabilization and Mercalli.

In cases as Sony Stabilization, which can be applied just to MediaFX, how could I know where there is a FX applied? I mean, when applying EventFx there is a green mark on the event. But in a big project, since MediaFX don’t provide such mark, how could I maintain tracking on all MediaFX applied in my project?

    Thanks!!!

    I know I know…
However, I don’t have another 200 bucks for Mercali stabilizer yet. 🙂

In that case, I recommend the free Deshaker.
A lot of Vegas folks I know use it and like it a lot.

Thanks, I know about deshaker and I already use it with VirtualDud.
However, the workflow in vegas with deshaker is a bit hard.
