Vegas 11.0 locked up causing my source video file to become corrupt
Vegas 11.0 build 683 64 bit locked up recently.
I finally rebooted and got things running again.
However, one of the source .m2ts files became corrupt.
After weeks of trying to recover the file, and failed. I told the client and I am in big trouble.
My question is this: Doesn’t Vegas open the source files as read only? Vegas has no business opening a source file for read/write as far as I can see. Is there a setting in Vegas that I don’t have set correctly that allowed the source to become corrupt?

Yes it does.

Not that I’m aware of. It’s rare for this to happen but it does from time to time and no one understands why.
Hopefully you still have the source files as replacing the corrupt one is easy to do.

Vegas may have opened the file but not closed it before Windows crashed.

I have no backup of the source file. I have learned a lesson (very expensive class).
