Quick question, I am trying to recreate a voice print type animation using a narrator voice that I have. I have converted the bass and treble to keyframes that drive null objects up and down on the screen. Now my problem is I am trying to get them to drive the write on effect so that I can have a layer moving left to right as they “write on” a line as they move up and down with the voice. But when I pickwip the location of the brush for the write on effect to the null it doesn’t work like I want it to. The write on effect does create a line, but it stays in the vertical and as I move the layer its writing on it remains a vertical line that just moves sideways with the object…….any suggestions?

Have you tried Effect>Generate>Audio Spectrum as another solution?

Also, do the horizontal movement in another comp. IOW, Work with Write-on on a large (long) comp and nest this and then animate x-position. Although you shouldn’t have to do perform the nesting but perhaps you have some other thing happening that is preventing the desired effect from working.
