  • Transferring from Card to Computer?

I have a Promaster Digital card reader I use for transferring data from my SanDisk Extreme 32GB Compack Flash cards to my PC. Some times this process is very fast. Other times very slow.

I have 100 files (shots) with average time of 8 seconds each. Today it’s taking over 2 hrs to transfer at a speed of 943kb per sec. The same amount of shots and lengths at other times take about 2 mins to transfer (did not write down the speed). All during computer idle times.

I haven’t checked to see if this happens only certain cards or not. All cards are the same SD 32GBs.

What might be some of the causes of this hugh difference in transfer rates?

I too had this problem when transferring files off my 32 GB CF card. I purchased a couple of readers before I came an article on the web suggesting I use the Sandisk Imagemate card reader. It cost $50 and was only available online in Australia. My read speeds went from 3 mbps to 28 mbps. Make sure you get the Imagemate that has the card slot you need. I think that there are 2 models.

My system specs: Intel i7 970, 12GB RAM, ASUS P6T, Vegas Pro 10e (x32/x64), Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, Vegas Production Assistant 1.0, VASST Ultimate S Pro 4.1, Neat Video Pro 2.6
