  • Script Needed -One second freeze on event

I do a lot of sports videos where I need to put a one or two second freeze on each clip (often several clips). I’m looking for a script that will allow me to pick a specific point on a clip (located on the Vegas time-line) then ad the one second freeze at that point. I’ve been doing this manually (velocity envelope), but it’s so time consuming because I’m often doing it for 30 or 40 clips in a project.
Does anyone know of a script that will do this or would anyone be willing to create one for me? I know nothing about scripting so it’s not something I think I could handle. I’d be willing to pay if someone can create one for me.

    Thanks

Hopefully someone will respond with a script that will do this all in one shot.

In the meantime, have you considered doing this by making snapshots and adding the .jpgs to your timeline?

The disk icon above the preview window will save a .jpg of the frame your cursor is on.

You can go to Options/Preferences/Editing and change ‘New Still Image Length’ to 1 second.

Then, every time you drop that newly created .jpg into the timeline, it will default to a length of one second.

I do have a script that will allow you to map “Save Snapshot To File” to a keyboard command if you would find that helpful, instead of using the mouse.

Dont know of a script to do this, but knows that Vegasaur has
an excellent freeze frame feature that would help you a lot, by
just placing a loop region where you want it and hit the freeze frame
    button.

I was not able to find a script that would do what I want. I will be looking into Vegasaur-thanks for the info on that Steve. In the meantime I did try the snapshot method mentioned by Sam and that’s not too bad. Thanks for you thoughts and help guys.

    Thanks

    Dave,
I know exactly what you need. I do the same types of videos for athletes. I use VASST Ultimate S to create Markers at all events, then, create images at markers. 1 button creates all the still images you need.
You will then need to place each image at the corresponding marker, but it goes very quickly.

    Dave,
I have since adjusted the way I make highlight videos for athletes using the velocity. I set my freeze frame (0% Velocity) at the start of the clip. Set the keyframe to HOLD, then set a 100% Velocity keyframe after 1 second (or however long you want the keyframe to last.

That part you knew, but this is the next step:
Press Ctrl+C to copy the event
Click on the next event…right click…SELECT EVENTS TO END
Then Right Click again on the selected event and…PASTE EVENT ATTRIBUTES

This will apply a 1 second freeze frame to the beginning of all your events.
