    Hi,

[I posted this on the Basics forum a few weeks ago, but got no answer. Any help there please?]

Certainly a stupid question… Having no other choice, I have shot a few clips with an iPhone 4S. Looked separately, the .MOV files look fine on my PC.

However, I can find no way to import them in a VP11 project : after about 15 clips / 2’30 on the timeline, adding other .MOV files lasts for ever, finally leading me to shutdown Vegas without saving the project. I have also tried with VP10, and have the exact same issue.

Memory consumption seems OK: I have 4GB free over 8GB when I add the 16th clip, and it does not grow over time. It really looks like if Vegas was freezing.

Here is the information I get from the MOV files according to MediaInfo:
    video: 24.2Mbps, 1920×1080 at 29.970 fps, AVC Baseline@L4.1

I have QuickTime 7.6.8 installed. QuickTime versions were an issue with VP9, is it still true?

In some random cases, instead of having a Vegas freeze, I also get no video when dragging the MOVs on the timeline: only the audio track is recognized.

Finally, I also tried to convert the MOVs to AVI with Cineform Neoscene, but Neoscene hangs after converting the first MOV.

Any idea to fix these issues and to get the editing possible?

Many thanks in advance for your help,
    Frederic

N.B.: I can edit Canon EOS 7D .MOV files without any issue on the same platform.

    No evidence – yet.

When apple updates QuickTime, they only test within their own universe and to hell with everyone else. Other NLE programs get caught with similar issues when Apple ups a rev.

How about posting a few seconds of the iPhone video for everyone else to test?

Many thanks for your prompt answer.

Unfortunately I am afraid that posting a video will not help: taken alone, each event behaves well on my computer. The problem arises ‘only’ when I drop a set of files (with multiple selection or dropping them one by one, doesn’t matter).

Following your remark I have looked for any specification about the QuickTime version required by Vegas on the Sony web site, but could not find anything. They just say they support ‘MOV’. If you have any hint…

    Best regards and thanks again,
    Frederic

There are no issues with the latest QuickTime and Vegas Pro 10.0 or 11.0. The issues were only with using older versions of Vegas with newer versions of QuickTime.

Try transcoding the footage to an earlier version or whatever Vegas supports.

I have the same problems. Can’t edit any iPhone 5s video. They either import with a Green screen, or audio with no video.
