Well, this group has been very helpful so far. Let’s see if we can do it again…

I have two computers on my desk at work. One is an XP and the other is Windows 7, and I have Vegas on both of them.

I occasionally put still photos in my videos (usually .jpg format). I’ll make another video track above the moving video and put the stills there. Works fine on the XP, but on the 7 machine, in the tracks area below, the still trackss are often solid red, and they don’t always show up in the preview window. Just black.

I haven’t tried to render this way, so I’m not sure.

Is there a setting somewhere about accepting still pictures?

    thanks

No clear idea for fixing this, but:

    – did you check the properties of the stills by right click > properties? Just to check any problem.

    – do the stills appear in the project media window?

    – can you preview it if you select it in the project media?

Vegas sometimes uses things like quiktime to process still images. In that case, if the Win 7 machine lacks the supporting software, Vegas cannot display the image. Try converting the images to png. I’m reasonably sure that Vegas processes png without assistance.
