  • Preview lag gets worse in editing

This is a new issue that just started happening… If I open Vegas 11 and start working on the project I last closed, everything is great, preview (in Good Auto mode) is smooth, no problems. But, the more I edit and play, the worse it gets to the point where I have to reduce the preview quality and then have to close Vegas all together and “refresh” it… this wasn’t happening before. Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Actually, this has happened to me in V8 & V10, but I do a lot of copy/paste from multiple running projects so this might be the issue.

I’m dealing with a lot of short clips that were imported from SD tapes (high school football footage) so a game has roughly 130+ clips that I then go in and edit play by play, times 10 games on a single project. Add pics, additional video, etc. and it’s a fairly heavy project. Still, I didn’t have issues in previous versions. Running an i7 with 8GB of RAM too so it’s not a power issue…

I tested importing my DV footage into a new project and matched the project settings to the footage and same problem. At first, smooth as silk preview playback, then progressively gets worse. Also turned off Audio buffering thinking that could be a culprit but no change…

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks.

I had my Dynamic RAM preview set way too high. It was at 5GB. I set it back to 386MB and all’s well. USER ERROR!!
