Sony Vegas 9 not responding / shuting down problem
I have been having problems viewing and editing certain projects in Sony Vegas 9. After careful examination of these projects I have found that each project that freezes up, shuts down, or just does not respond seems to have different forms of media involved in the project. Example…one project has media from 1440x1080i as well as media from 1920x1080i and also certain still pictures taken from a camera. Another project that always seemed to freeze up I was trying to include video from a GoPro. When I took out the GoPro media from my project it worked without a flaw. SO…here is my question. The error that shows up is this:
Fault mode: C:/programfilessonyvegaspro9.0.file IO plug-insmcplugmcmpegin.dll
I assume that this file is bad and not able to convert my media into something it can handle. If so, how do I go about deleting this file and replacing it with a good one? Are there downloads for this?

I don’t have Vegas 9 installed any more on my home computer, but I have 9 installed at work. I could compare that .dll and even upload it somewhere for you. What it the date and size of your .dll?
However, I don’t think that will fix the problem.
What version and build of Vegas 9 are you using? (Sorry if this is obvious, but let’s start at the foundation).

I’m at work, check the Vegas 9e, running same build. However, my mcmpegin.dll is different than yours. Thursday, June 18, 2009, 1:11:04 PM 465 KB (476,400 bytes)
I uploaded it to https://www.huecotanks.com/temp1/ , of course the date will now be today. I guess saving your old .dll and trying mine won’t hurt, but I don’t think it will fix anything.

Thanks…I will give it a try. I dont know what else to try. It might be some corrupt media. I did have a project that kept shutting down and when I took out the Go Pro footage it ran fine. Is there something special I need to do to use Go Pro footage?

Don’t know about GoPro, but I’ve had problems with Xvid stuff, which was stupidly compressed. Try using gSpot or some other utility to look at the GoPro vid and see what codec it is using.
Sorry I am not much help. I fear that perhaps because I have been responding, other Cow users with Bigger Brains are not stepping in to help …
